BHOPAL: Doctors at a private medical facility in city are working 24X7 to revive a three-and-a-half-year-old girl from a disease which they believe is most likely a new illness a Covid-19–associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) or Kawasaki-like disease (KD).
While doctors are finding it bit difficult to differentiate her illness following similar symptoms, financial constraints have left her parents anguished.
KD is a severe illness that affects mostly children under five. It features inflammation of blood vessels. Though the cause of KD is not clearly known, experts say, it occurs in genetically predisposed children after exposure to even airborne infections. Covid-19 is a recent addition to it.
